Roma boss Eusebio Di Franceso made no special plans to stop Salah
Roma boss, Eusebio Di Franceso, is relying on the Egyptian winger’s previous spell at the Stadio Olimpico as an advantage against his side’s upcoming Champions League semifinal cup tie against Liverpool.
While it may seem like an eternity ago, few could have predicted Mohamed Salah’s historic season in the English Premier League with Liverpool. Previously, the winger was stationed in Roma playing for the respected club and put up an impressive 15 goals paired with 11 assists in 29 appearances for the club last season.
This season, Mohamed Salah is breaking record after record, with a mind-blowing 31 goals/nine assists in the Premier League alone. With Salah inching closer towards the all time record of goals in a 38 game season, it came as a bit of a shock when the Roma manager revealed he hadn’t asked his players on how they plan to stop the scoring winger. Instead, the manager is relying on Salah’s former spells in Italy as the main scouting info.
“I don’t need them to tell me, his qualities are very clear.” said Di Franceso.
He later added in that he also played against Mohamed Salah in Italy, referring to his time as a player for Florentina. Di Franceso ended the interview with praise for the player, calling him “a great guy, a great professional, and a hard worker”.
Roma goes up against Mohamed Salah and Liverpool on April 24th in the first of two legs in the Champions League semifinal.
