OFFICIAL: Mohamed Elneny out of action for three weeks
Egyptian national team assistant manager Mahmoud Fayez has confirmed that midfielder Mohamed Elneny will be out of action for three weeks following the injury he sustained recently with Arsenal.
The Egyptian international suffered an ankle injury 35 minutes into Arsenal’s 4-1 win over West Ham on Sunday after a wrong landing on his left ankle following a challenge with Mark Noble.
“I just contacted Elneny after he finished his X-ray and thankfully his injury is not serious and he will be out of action for three weeks,” Mahmoud Fayez assured through his Twitter account. “He will join us in the World Cup.”
Mohamed Elneny looked distraught as he had to leave the pitch on a stretcher which left Gunners coach Arsene Wenger worried. However, now that the extent of his injury has been identified, the player might be able to return to the squad if Arsenal managed to reach the Europa League final match on May 16 and will have no problem joining the national team in the World Cup.
