Former Chelsea midfielder has heaped praise on Liverpool star after he managed to snatch the 2018 PFA Player of the Year award.

Salah has appeared in a dazzling shape in his first season with Liverpool and took the Premier League by storm, being the top scorer with 31 goals with three rounds to spare, becoming the first player to reach that quota since Cristiano Ronaldo with Manchester United.

Essien voiced out his appreciation of what the 25-year-old attacker has done and his ability to shine in the Premier League as an African player.

“He is a fantastic player. It didn’t work out at Chelsea at a young age, but what he has done at Liverpool is amazing,” Essien told KweséESPN.

“Being an African, I take a lot of pride in the fact that another African has emerged as such a big star in the PL. Mahrez did it too, but it’s not just those two. Sadio Mane has done fantastically too in helping to project the reputation of African players strongly by the way they’ve played,” the former Ghana captain concluded.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that Salah delivers in yet another big European night and increases his eight-goal tally when they host Roma in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal on Tuesday.
