Pelé congratulates Mohamed Salah on POTY award
Mohamed Salah was crowned the Professional Footballers’ Association player of the year for the 2017-18 season after a spectacular debut season with the Reds.
He saw off competition from Manchester City trio David Silva, Kevin de Bruyne, and Leroy Sane as well as Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.
The Egyptian has scored 31 goals and provided 10 assists in 33 Premier League games this season and is currently leading the Golden Boot race, five goals ahead of Harry Kane.
And he has earned another praise from Pele after the Brazilian revealed earlier this month that Salah is one of the best five players in the world.
“Congratulations on your award, Mohamed Salah. What a season. And more to come in the Champions League and World Cup. It’s been great to watch you,” Pele’s official Twitter account tweeted.

Liverpool currently sit third in the English Premier League with 71 points, three behind second-placed Manchester United, but the Red Devils still have one game in hand.
Their next game will be against Mohamed Salah’s former side AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday, April 24 at Anfield.
Salah will be hoping to become the second Egyptian to play a European championship final after Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’, who played the 2004 UEFA Cup final as his club Marseille was defeated by Valencia.
