Hegazi recieves FA verdict on Ings incident
Egypt international and West Brom center back, Ahmed Hegazi, will not be charged after it appeared that he jabbed Liverpool forward Danny Ings.
Ings had complained that the 27-year-old West Bromwich Albion defender, Ahmed Hegazi, jabbed him in the stomach in an air duel during Saturday’s 2-2 draw.
Referee Staurt Atwell missed the incident leading to a review by an independent panel formed by 3 former referees. The majority of the panel ruled that the offense was not red card worthy.
Due to the panel forming their decision without unanimity no disciplinary action will be taken against the Egyptian defender. The panel took into account that Hegazi did not use any violent force, deeming it not a violent conduct.
Hegazi played the entire 90 minutes in West Brom’s 2-2 draw against Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool, where the Reds star the second goal for his team.
