Salah is best player on the planet, says Steven Gerrard
Salah has proven once again that he is one of the best players in the world right now following the Reds’ 5-2 against AS Roma in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.
The 2018 PFA Player of the Year produced an incredible man of the match performance against his former side as he scored two goals and produced two assists as the Reds secured a very important win that could see them qualify for the Champions League final for the first time in 11 years.
His recent performances have seen him get praised by several footballing legends and today was no exception as former Liverpool player Steven Gerrard said that the Egyptian is the best player in the world right now.
“Without a shadow of a doubt, he’s the best player on the planet right now,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
The 25-year-old has now scored 43 goals across all competitions with the Reds and became the African player with the most goals in a single Champions League campaign (10) beating Samuel Eto’o’s longstanding record of eight goals.
Salah will now be looking to break another record this weekend as the player with the most Premier League goals in a single 38-game campaign (31) when Liverpool will face Ramadan Sobhi’s Stoke City on Saturday.
The Merseyside side will also have an uphill battle as they will face AS Roma in the Stadio Olimpico next Wednesday in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final.
