bagged two goals and two assists to help seal a thrilling 5-2 victory over his former club in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final.

The Egypt international put in an impressive performance at Anfield on Tuesday night to put the Reds a step closer to the Champions League final.

Salah started his show after 35 minutes from kick-off, when he received a great ball from Roberto Firmino on the right side. He cut inside and sent a curling effort into the top corner that left Roma’s keeper Alisson Becker helpless and gave the hosts a 1-0 lead.

In the first minute of the additional time, Salah continued his magic and gave Liverpool a two-goal lead. Firmino linked up with Salah and sent him through on goal before the Egypt international added his second of the night with a perfect chip over Alisson.

Ten minutes into the second half, Liverpool extended their lead, with Salah being involved again. This time the 25-year-old assisted Mane after receiving a ball behind Roma’s defense. He then sent a low cross to the Senegalese forward who found the net with a simple touch.

Around the hour mark, Salah made a great run on the right wing, before dribbling past Juan Jesus. He then sent the ball to Firmino who comfortably tapped into the empty net to make it 4-0 for the hosts.

After seven more minutes, Firmino scored his second goal and Liverpool’s fifth after heading James Milner’s corner into Alisson’s net.

Salah was given a standing ovation as his night came to an end after he was replaced by Danny Ings.

Salah’s substitution relieved Roma from their defensive duties as they intensified their attack in an attempt to find a consolation goal that could help them in the return leg in Rome. Their pressure paid off as Edin Dzeko scored from close range after capitalising on a mistake from Dejan Lovren in the 81st minute.

Five minutes later, Roma were awarded a penalty for handball against James Milner. Diego Perotti stepped up and he scored to reduce the deficit for the visitors ahead of the second leg at Stadio Olympico on May 2.
