Walid Azaro ruled out of Cairo derby, Ali Maaloul fit
The Red Devils, who have already been confirmed as league champions, will face Zamalek in the 34th round of the Egyptian Premier League at Cairo International Stadium.
The game will take place on Thursday, April 26, with Egyptian referees officiating it for the first time since the 2014 Egyptian Super Cup, which Al Ahly won on penalties.
Al Ahly will face their rivals without their top scorer Walid Azaro, who picked up an injury during his side’s 2-1 win over Petrojet.
Azaro’s injury means that Egypt international forward Marwan Mohsen will most likely replace the Moroccan in Al Ahly’s starting line-up.
Marwan Mohsen has made only eight appearances for Al Ahly this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
Al Ahly will also welcome back Ali Maaloul from injury, as the club have revealed that the Tunisian is fit and ready for the encounter.
Maaloul hasn’t made a single appearance for Al Ahly since the club’s 1-0 win over ENPPI on March 11, with Sabry Rahil replacing him since then.
Al Ahly currently top the league table with 85 points, while Zamalek sit third with 58. A win for Al Ahly could see them break Zamalek’s record for most points in a season, which the Whites set in 2015.
