Morsy returns as Zamalek announce squad for Cairo derby

Zamalek interim coach Khaled Galal announced the club’s 18-man squad that will be facing Al Ahly in the 34th round of the Egyptian Premier League at Cairo International Stadium.

Al Ahly, have already been confirmed as league champions, are currently top the league table with 85 points, while Zamalek sit third with 58.

Striker Bassem Morsi and midfielder Marouf Youssef were included in Galal’s squad, while Ahmed Daouda, Mohamed Ashraf, Ahmed Tawfik, Mohamed El-Shamy and Ahmed Refaat were excluded for technical reasons.

The game will take place on Thursday, April 26, with Egyptian referees officiating it for the first time since the 2014 Egyptian Super Cup, which Al Ahly won on penalties.

Full squad:

Goalkeepers: Mahmoud Gennesh, Omar Salah.

Defenders: Mahmoud Alaa, Hamdy Nagguez, Ahmed Abo El-Fetouh, Eslam Gamal, Mahmoud Hamdy ‘El Wensh’.

Midfielders: Mahmoud Dunga, Marouf Youssef, Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz, Ahmed Madbouly, Ayman Hefny, Tarek Hamed, Mohamed Antar, Abdallah Gomaa.

Forwards: Youssef Obama, Kabongo Kasongo, Bassem Morsy.
