Al Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry said that he warned the players before the game about being to relaxed during the game but he sees the lose as a good lesson to be taught.

The Red Devils were held to a 2-1 lose against their arch-rivals Zamalek in the Cairo Derby on the final match day of the Egyptian Premier League.

Al Ahly had already secured the league title a couple of weeks ago as for Zamalek they were looking to try and end a disappointing league campaign on a high note.

“We entered the game very relaxed despite my warnings to the players, which led to mistakes which led to Zamalek scoring two goals,” El-Badry said during a post-match interview.

“My only reproach is that they were to relaxed at the beginning of the game. However they all gave their all during the game,” he added.

“We took over the course of the game once again we were able to create many opportunities but in the end we were unlucky. We wasted many opportunities and lost,”

“I congratulate Zamalek. They wanted a positive result and that’s what they achieved and this is certainly their right,” he continued.

“I subbed-off Hossam Ashour for technical reasons and I was also scared of him getting a second yellow card,”

“All the players gave their all, the collective shape wasn’t very good at the beginning but all players gave their all,” he confirmed.

“What happened can be considered as a lesson for us even though I don’t like lessons that come from losses,”

El-Badry was then asked about what he thought about the refereeing throughout the game:

“I don’t talk about the refereeing. However there was a lot of chaos during the game and I don’t know why honestly. I don’t know the reasons of the chaos but I will think about it once I go home,” he concluded.

Following this game Al Ahly remain first on the Egyptian Premier League table with 85 points. As for Zamalek they are currently third with 61 points, three above Al Masry who have four games in hand.
