Russia coach: Salah is a leader in Liverpool, Egypt’s playing style different
Russia coach Stanislav Cherchesov has agreed with claims Liverpool and Egypt winger Mohamed Salah is currently the best player in the world, but argued Liverpool’s playing style is different from that of Egypt.
Russia are the hosts of the upcoming 2018 World Cup and were drawn with Egypt, Uruguay and Egypt in Group A.
Russia will commence the tournament by facing Saudi Arabia in the opening game, before meeting up with Egypt and finally concluding their group games against Uruguay.
“I agree [that Salah is the best player in the world right now]. It was even clear in the last Champions League game against Roma, he does everything. Not only him has changed but a lot of things changed around him,” Cherchesov told kpsport.ru.
“Klopp has been building his Liverpool team for a couple of years, Salah is comfortable there. He went to a great club, he understands everyone and everyone understands him. After Coutinho’s departure Salah felt he is a real leader in Liverpool, in addition to his pace, technique and talent.”
The 54-year-old manager also mentioned that Hector Cuper’s style differs from that of Klopp.
“The head coach of Egypt, Hector Cuper, plays a bit different football, unlike that at Liverpool. Salah is often freed from defensive duties. The question is, how fast is the ball delivered to him?”
“With Egypt he [Salah] gets it a second later than with Liverpool. This moment decides very much at this level,” he added.
