This win was for the fans, says Khaled Galal
Zamalek temporary manager Khaled Galal said that the players gave their all for the fans and that this win will make them more determined to winning the Egypt Cup.
The White Knights have beaten Al Ahly 2-1 in the Cairo Derby in the final match-day of the Egyptian Premier League for the first time in eleven years.
Even though the Red Devils were already crowned Egyptian champions a couple of weeks ago, this win meant a lot to Zamalek as they are now closer to finishing third above Al Masry it is also a great moral boost ahead of their clash against El-Entag El-Harby in the quarter-final of the Egypt Cup.
“I told the players to concentrate on making the Zamalek fans happy, without paying attention to plans or tactics. The players were very concentrated,” Galal said during a post-match interview.
“We worked a lot on the technical and tactical part and the players were men. The game may not affect the league table but it affected our supporters,” he added.
“He’s a great referee but he was putting a lot of pressure on us during most of the game,” he said on referee Mohamed El-Hanafy.
“We continued Rehab Galal’s work, the style may change but we continued his work. The players were men, this will make us more determined to winning the Egypt Cup.” he concluded.
Zamalek had announced earlier this week that Swiss manager Christian Gross will takeover the first-team duties but he is yet to arrive in Cairo to start working with his new side.
Following this game Zamalek are currently third on the Egyptian Premier League table with 61 points, three above Al Masry who have four games in hand. As for Al Ahl they remain first with 85 points.
