Spalletti believes Salah can score more goals for Liverpool
The Egypt international led Liverpool to thrash Roma 5-2 in the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League, scoring two goals while providing another two.
Spalletti was appointed the manager of Roma for his second spell in the 2016/17 season. Salah shined with the Giallorossi during this season and scored a total of 19 goals in all competitions in 41 appearances.
“I’ve seen first hand what putting Salah on a football pitch can do,” said the current Inter Milan coach. “Klopp’s work was important. I tried telling him to stay more central for a whole season. He liked being out wide but then realized what his best position was.”
After his move to Anfield in the summer of 2017, the young Pharaoh remarkably scored a total of 43 goals in 47 appearances in addition to 15 assists, shaping Liverpool’s attacking form with 88 goals between him and forwards Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
“He has what it takes to go beyond the numbers he’s achieved so far. He loves his work and his teammates, and he makes all of himself available for the team’s objective,” he concluded.
