Stoke City boss doesn’t believe Salah is as good as Messi and Ronaldo
Stoke City head coach Paul Lampert doesn’t think that Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is equal to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo despite his magnificent form and numbers this season.
Mohamed Salah remarkably scored a total of 43 goals in 47 appearances in addition to 15 assists, shaping Liverpool’s attacking form with 88 goals between him and forwards Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Stoke City will clash with Liverpool on matchday 36 of the English Premier League, the Potters are looking for vital three points to continue their relegation zone fight while the Reds aim to secure the third position.
“The season he’s had has been phenomenal but I still think the best players on the planet are Ronaldo and Messi,” Lampert said. “The reason I say that is because they have done it season after season. But I don’t think anybody could have predicted the season Salah has had.”
A number of pundits in addition ro current and former Liverpool players expected Salah to be at least in contention for the 2018 Ballon d’Or along with Messi and Ronaldo after he finishes the best season of his professional career so far.
“He must be in the running, but again, he’s in an era with those two in front of him, so it’s incredibly tough,” the Stoke City boss concluded.
