Egypt international expressed his optimism for the English Premier League play-offs assuring that his side will be a fierce rival as four teams will compete for a spot in the top level league.

After qualifying with the national team to the World Cup for the first time in 28 years, Elmohamady announced that he is targetting promotion to the EPL with the Villa.

“We have a few players who have had this experience in the play-offs before,” Elmo said explaining that his team is banking on the vast experiences the squad has in dealing with such critical matches.

“John Terry gives us experience too. The gaffer as well has been in the play-offs so many times. It’s going to help us. Will others want to avoid us? Of course. It’s always tough to come to play at Villa Park,” he added.

Aston Villa cemented their place in the play-offs as they are currently 4th in the Championship with 83 points after 45 games, five points away from third-placed Fulham.

Teams that finish third, fourth, fifth, sixth enter the play-off competition where the semi-finals are played over two legs then the final match will be played at Wembley Stadium.

“We have players who have been in other teams before and know that, when you come here, it’s always tough to play.

“The gaffer is here as well. That’s going to help the team a lot. He has been around the league a long time. He can give players advice through this time. Of course, we can make it to the final.”

The third will play against the team in the sixth position in the playoffs while fourth-placed Villa will face either Middlesbrough or Derby County in the semi-finals.

Elmo assured that he and his teammates are not concerned about their semi-final match opponents as they will be aiming to go to the final regardless of which team they will face.

“The semi-final is very difficult. Whatever the score in the first leg, you have to have careful. We’ll play away first, which gives us more chance.

“Then Villa Park is going to be full, like it was on Saturday. We have enough experienced players in the team to get through.”
