Al Masry secured continental football for next season despite drawing 1-1 with in gameweek 32 of the Egyptian Premier League.

Al Masry’s draw secured them at least a third-place finish, which would seal their qualification to next year’s CAF Confederation Cup. They still have a chance to finish second and qualify to the CAF Champions League, Africa’s top-tier competition.

Al Masry had a goal ruled out for an offside four minutes before the break. After a goalless first half at the Borg El-Arab Stadium, Amr Moussa opened the scoring for Al Masry in the 57th minute.

The Port Said-based team looked set to collect the three points, before ENPPI’s Mohamed Ashraf scored an equaliser in injury time.

ENPPI now sit sixth on the league table with 50 points, while Al Masry are third with 62 points, one ahead of Zamalek. The Port Said-based side, however, still have two games in hand as they’ll face Ismaily on May 11 before playing their final league game against champions Al Ahly on May 22. Winning their two remaining games would secure them a second-place finish ahead of Ismaily.

Their next game, however, will be in the CAF Confederation Cup as they face UD Songo of Mozambique in the first game of the group stage on Sunday.
