Premier League legend Alan Shearer believes  deserves to win the Ballon d’Or if he guides Liverpool to the Champions League title.

The Egyptian has been on fire for Liverpool this season, scoring 43 goals while providing 15 assists in 47 games across all competitions.

He is so close to reaching the Champions League final after Liverpool managed to take a 5-2 lead to Rome, with the Italian side needing to win by a three-goal margin to advance to the final in Kiev.

If the Reds can overcome AS Roma on Wednesday, they will face Real Madrid in the final, after the Spanish giants beat Bayern Munich 4-3 on aggregate.

And Alan Shearer feels Mohamed Salah could be the one to break Ronaldo and Messi Ballon d’Or dominance if he wins the European competition.

“Mo Salah was named the PFA Player of the Season last weekend and rightly so,” Shearer told Coral.

“It was 50/50 going into the last few weeks but Salah’s performances in the quarter-final and the first leg of the semi-final in the Champions League justifies the decision.

“The form he has been in is just incredible. If Liverpool go on to win this competition, he should be named the World Footballer of the Year.

“That award has been dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in recent years so it will be some achievement if he was to take that prize away from them,” he added.

Mohamed Salah will be hoping to become the only second Arab to lift the Champions League title after Algeria’s Rabah Madjer, who won it with FC Porto against Bayern Munich in 1987.

Salah managed to land the PFA Player of the Year award and the Football Writers’ Player of the Year, as well as winning the Premier League Player of the Month award three times this season.

He is also currently leading the Golden Boot race with 31 goals, four ahead of Tottenham’s Harry Kane, with only three league games remaining.
