Pochettino advises Kane to focus on helping Tottenham rather than catching Salah
Kane has been living an excellent season maintaining his impressive scoring pattern in the last couple of seasons. He scored 27 goals this season.
The England international, however, has Liverpool hero Mohamed Salah a stumbling block in his way to retain the Premier League goal scorer, as the 25-year-old winger leads the race for the league’s golden boot with 31 goals, four more than Kane.
“He needs to be focused on helping the team to finish in the top four and playing in the Champions League next season,” Pochettino said in a press conference.
“Of course, if he scores and there is the possibility to catch Salah, that would be fantastic, but helping the team to win is the most important thing.”
Tottenham are fighting for a spot in the top 4, which grants the eligibility of playing Champions League football next season, along with Liverpool and Chelsea. And the Argentine manager stresses on the importance of that.
“Now we need to be focused on the club finishing in the top four and we have the quality to do it. Harry will have chances to score in our last three games, no doubt, but now the bigger target is the top four. He knows very well he has to keep working hard to score goals – and he knows very well the collective target is more important.”
