Sam Morsy’s Wigan crowned League One champions

played the full 90 minutes as beat Doncaster Rovers 1-0 on Saturday to win the League One title.

The Latics had already secured promotion to the Championship and needed one point to seal the league title.

Will Grigg netted the game’s only goal 15 minutes from time to secure the guests’ a 1-0 win. Nick Powell’s pass found Grigg who went one-on-one chance with keeper Marko Marosi and slotted the ball home into the bottom left corner.

Wigan finished only two points above second-placed Blackburn Rovers who defeated Oxford United 2-1 on Saturday.

Morsy, 26, scored two goals and assisted four in 39 league appearances with the League One champions this season. The Wigan captain also featured six times in the team’s FA Cup campaign, which saw them exit at the hands of Southampton in the quarter-final of the competition after beating Premier League champions Manchester City in the previous round.
