Turki Al-Sheikh declines honorary presidency of Zamalek

Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s Sport Authority has refused to accept the honorary presidency of Egyptian side .

Chairman of Zamalek Mortada Mansour announced granting Al-Sheikh the honorary presidency of the White Castle during a press conference on Saturday.

Yet Al-Sheikh, who was appointed as ’s honorary president in December, issued a statement on his official Facebook page in which he refused to accept the honorary presidency of Zamalek Club, citing his love for Zamalek’s rivals .

“[He] refuses to accept the honorary presidency of Zamalek because he’s a fan of Al Ahly,” the statement read.

He, however, expressed his appreciation for all the sentiments expressed by the board of directors and the president of Zamalek, saying they’re certainly respected and appreciated.

“Al-Sheikh wishes all Egyptian and Arab teams the best of luck,” the statement concluded.

Since his appointment as an honorary president of the Red Castle, Al-Sheikh has provided the Red Devils with financial support and is among several Arab investors who are expected to support Al Ahly’s stadium project.

    How embarrassing, when will Mansour leave Zamalek? He had one good year, yay, but he needs to leave. Changing the manager every ten days is probably a bad idea, as is dismantling a good team because they had a run of poor form.
