Turki Al-Sheikh declines honorary presidency of Zamalek
Chairman of Zamalek Mortada Mansour announced granting Al-Sheikh the honorary presidency of the White Castle during a press conference on Saturday.
Yet Al-Sheikh, who was appointed as Al Ahly’s honorary president in December, issued a statement on his official Facebook page in which he refused to accept the honorary presidency of Zamalek Club, citing his love for Zamalek’s rivals Al Ahly.
“[He] refuses to accept the honorary presidency of Zamalek because he’s a fan of Al Ahly,” the statement read.
He, however, expressed his appreciation for all the sentiments expressed by the board of directors and the president of Zamalek, saying they’re certainly respected and appreciated.
“Al-Sheikh wishes all Egyptian and Arab teams the best of luck,” the statement concluded.
Since his appointment as an honorary president of the Red Castle, Al-Sheikh has provided the Red Devils with financial support and is among several Arab investors who are expected to support Al Ahly’s stadium project.
