Salah nominated for France Football’s African Player of the Month award
Salah could potentially add to his already impressive list of trophies this season as he is nominated for France Football’s Player of the Month for April.
France Football, who are the company behind the Ballon d’Or that Salah is in with a chance of winning, hold a monthly award for the best African player of each month no matter which league they ply their trade in.
In April, Salah scored twice in the Premier League but his main performances came in the Champions League where he scored one in both legs against Manchester City before netting a brace in the semi final first leg against his former club Roma, which effectively sent Liverpool into their first final since 2007.
Another nominee for the award is Burkina Faso international of Lyon, who scored four and assisted one in his five games in April, all of which came in the league. His goals are playing a crucial role in Lyon’s bid to finish second and qualify for the Champions League.
The final nominee is Dutch born Morocco international Hakim Ziyech. While the Ajax attacking midfielder is not a prominent goalscorer, he picked up a goal and three assists in April although his good form was not enough to prevent PSV Eindhoven from winning the Eredivisie title ahead of the Amsterdam giants.
A link to the poll can be found here, with Salah currently winning with 71% of the vote at the time of writing. Salah’s focus will now be on his next game against Chelsea this afternoon.
