Ahmed Hegazi named in ESPN Team of the Week
After West Bromwich Albion managed to pull a shocking 1-0 victory over Tottenham on the weekend, Ahmed Hegazi was included in ESPN’s team of the week.
Not only did the Egyptian defender manage to keep Harry Kane quiet for the whole game, Hegazi made 11 clearances for his side to insure they kept a clean sheet against the Lilywhites.
WBA are undefeated in their last five ties in the Premier League, with three of the fixtures played against the three of the top four in the standing.
According ESPN’s Gabriele Marcotti “No way should this guy be in the Championship next year,” in reference to Hegazi.
Although the Baggies still have a chance to survive from relegation, a win for either Southampton or Swansea in their head to head clash this Tuesday will automatically lead the Pharaoh’s side to the Championship next season.
The rest of the ESPN lineup was composed of Huddersfield’s Jonas Lossl between the posts, Terence Kongolo from the same side that faced Manchester City next to the Egyptian at the center of the backline, while Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin and Crystal Palace’s Patrick van Aanholt ran the fullback positions.
Aaron Mooy was also picked from the side that stumbled the league winners, while Pascal Gross was chosen after firing the goal that helped Brighton beat Manchester United. The other two players in the middle of the park were Ruben Loftus-Cheek from the Glaziers and Watford’s Roberto Pereyra.
While the Gunners’ front-line Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette led the attacking spots in the lineup.
