Al Ahly legend Emad Meteb joins Misr El-Makkasa on one-year deal
The 35-year-old will join El-Makkasa on a free transfer after Cairo giants refused to extend his contract following the forward’s loan at Saudi side Al Taawoun.
During his time at Al Taawoun, Meteb failed to score a single goal in nine games, which made the Saudi outfit decide against signing him on a permanent basis.
El-Makkasa announced that the veteran forward is yet to sign the contracts, but he is close to do so and will join the training on May 27, before the club removed the news from their official website.
If successful, Meteb will become their first summer signing after a disappointing campaign, which saw them finish eighth in the Premier League.
Meteb, who started his career at Al Ahly in 2003, helped the Reds win 10 Premier League titles, four CAF Champions Leagues, one Confederation Cup, three Egypt Cups, five Egyptian Super Cups, and three CAF Super Cups.
On the international level, he guided Egypt to three consecutive Africa Cup of Nations, and was part of the team the played in the 2009 Confederations Cup.
