Mido may reunite with Shikabala in Saudi Pro League

Former manager aims to be reunited with ex-teammate Mahmoud Abdel-Razek ‘Shikabala’ in the Saudi Professional League next season.

Mido revealed he had a meeting with Chairman of the Saudi General Sports Authority Turki Al-Sheikh to discuss the possibility of taking charge of one of the Saudi Professional League sides next season without mentioning any further details.

He disclosed that in case a deal goes through, he will look to bring Zamalek playmaker Shikabala, who spent the just wrapped up season at Al Raed, as per agreed with Al-Sheikh.

Shikabala played under the leadership of Mido at Ismaily, when he joined the Ismailia-based club on loan in 2015. He then returned to his boyhood club Zamalek in January 2016, when Mido took over as the White Castle coach.

The 35-year-old manager spoke about Mortada Mansour’s decision of appointing Khaled Galal as the team’s coach for a year.

“Khaled Galal led Zamalek with no pressures at all. Signing Galal will put him under a lot of pressure,” he added.

He continued by saying that he found that the team’s semi-final 4-1 win over Ismaily was over-celebrated when all focus should be on the final.

“I spoke to Tarek Hamed and told him that the team haven’t accomplished anything yet and asked him to tell the players that,” He concluded

Zamalek are set to face Smouha in the Cup final in Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria on Tuesday.
