Trezeguet talks World Cup, Group A and Mohamed Salah
Trezeguet spoke about his seizing his opportunity of shining in the FIFA World Cup as well as it’s group facing Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and Russia and about Mohamed Salah winning the Ballon d’Or.
“I hope to show the performance I have shown here [Turkey] in the World Cup. I want to help the national team as much as I can. I hope that I can exhibit the same formula in the World Cup by preparing myself even better. It’s a great opportunity to be in Russia,” Trezeguet told Turkish website Haberturk.
“We are in a difficult group in the World Cup, because Uruguay is a great football country. Russia will take advantage of being a host. Saudi Arabia is a derby for us. It will not be easy, but we also want to achieve the best result possible and finish the group stage successfully and qualify to the next round,” the 23-year-old continued.
He specifically mentioned Galatasaray goalkeeper, Fernando Muslera, who will be between posts for Uruguay in the World Cup.
“We played against Fernando Muslera with Galatasaray in the Super League. I wish him luck. I hope the best for him. I wish he has a very good performance and a good World Cup for both of us.”
He concluded by praising compatriot Mohamed Salah on a personal level as well as professionally wishing him the Ballon d’Or.
“Mohamed Salah is a very good footballer and a great person. I hope he will win the ‘best player’ award. He’s having a very good season at Liverpool. I’m enjoying a very good season at Kasimpasa. I hope we will be able to carry this form to the World Cup,” he concluded.
