Mohamed Salah “very proud” of Premier League Golden Boot win
Mohamed Salah has revealed his delight after winning the Golden Boot and has vowed to win the award again next season.
The Egypt international has managed to win the Premier League Player of the Season award as well as the Golden Boot after scoring 32 goals in 36 league games.
He became the only second African to win the Golden Boot after Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba, who won the award on two occasions in 2006-07 and 2009-10 respectively.
His 26th-minute goal against Brighton made him the Premier League’s record goalscorer in a 38-game season, and helped Liverpool seal a spot in next season’s Champions League.
“This is very special,” Salah told Sky Sports after the final whistle.
“It’s always in my mind to help the team to win games, now we are in the Champions League next year and I have won the award, so I am very proud.
“I am trying to improve every year so I am very happy. It’s special to break the record here.”
When asked whether he can replicate this form again next season, Salah replied: “I will, don’t worry. I will do my best to win it, 100%.”
He could become the second Arab player to win the Champions League after Algeria’s Rabeh Madjer when Liverpool face holders Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26.
