Ahmed Elmohamady “big doubt” for Middlesbrough clash
Aston Villa are in danger of being without Ahmed Elmohamady when they face Middlesbrough in the return-leg of the Championship Play-Off semi-final.
The Villains have managed to take a valuable 1-0 lead back to Villa Park for the second leg, thanks to a Mile Jedinak glancing header.
Egypt international Ahmed Elmohamady started the game, before picking up a hamstring injury, which made manager Steve Bruce bring him off for Glenn Whelan after 88 minutes.
And it appears he won’t be available for the second leg as Steve Bruce described Elmohamady as a “big doubt” for Tuesday’s game.
The 30-year-old fullback has joined Aston Villa last summer from Hull City and has been one of their key players this season.
He made 44 appearances for Steve Bruce’s side, assisting five times, helping them finish fourth in the Championship, which qualified them for the playoffs.
Elmohamady has won promotion to the Premier League twice before with Hull City and will hope to make it three from three with Aston Villa this season.
