Al Ahly will have to fare against Uganda’s Kampala City in the group stage without the services of veteran , who sustained a knee injury.

Al Ahly are entering their match against Kampala with their eyes only set on the three points after failing to grab the three points in their Group A opener, settling for just a 0-0 draw against Esperance Sportive de Tunis in Cairo.

The Red Devils have confirmed through their official website that the team’s medical staff stated that Fathi has been forced out of the game due to a knee injury.

Al Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry announced his starting lineup against Kampala, with 22-year-old right back Mohamed Hany replacing the Egypt international.

Fathi has featured for Al Ahly in 24 games in the Egyptian Premier League this season. He also played the entire 90 minutes in Al Ahly’s goalless draw against Esperance in the first round of the African competition.
