Al Ahly to hire foreign coach following El-Badry’s resignation

Following the resignation of former boss Hossam El Badry, have decided the next person taking command over the squad will be a foreign coach.

After four games in a row without a single win, El-Badry, who helped Al Ahly secure the league title six weeks before the end of the competition, walked out of the exit door, leaving the Red Castle without a man at the helm.

Al Ahly’s disappointing run of results started with a 2-1 defeat to Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League, before they exited the Egypt Cup from the quarter-final at the hands of Assiouty Sport.

The Red Devils’ winless run extended to the continental level as they drew with Esperance Sportive de Tunis at the beginning of the CAF Champions group stage before losing to KCCA in the second game on Tuesday. They now sit at the bottom of Group A with one point.

Al Ahly president and the board of directors at Al Ahly announced after a meeting on Wednesday that the a foreign coach will be hired to lead the first team in the coming period.

Al Ahly’s next game will be against Al Masry in the league on May 20, before they resume their CAF Champions League campaign against Township Rollers mid-July.
