Bassem Morsy reckons he deserved to join the national team
Zamalek striker Bassem Morsy has shown confidence in himself and his abilities in which he thinks should’ve got him a spot in Hector Cuper’s squad that’s going to Russia for the 2018 World Cup.
The Argentine coach has recently announced an initial list of 35 players which will participate with the national team in the upcoming friendly matches against Kuwait and Belgium, which Morsy wasn’t a part of.
“As I said before, I deserved to join the national team; I played 10 games and scored 7 goals. I deserved more support,” said Bassem Morsy told DMC Sports channel.
“I don’t mean that there are players who get a better treatment than me. It does not matter to me at all. I have not been bad, I have been scoring. But there was a problem as some people mistook my words before the Africa Cup of Nations Cup, I scored 6 goals, more than all the strikers who joined the team, all of them are great players, but I did not go scoreless for 50 games.”
“If I join the national team now, I will score goals. Its all about the personality, some great player wouldn’t be able to even walk on the pitch if they get cussed or humiliated by some fans,” he mentioned.
The Zamalek striker concluded his words on his situation with Hector Cuper and his staff and said that, he thanked the national team’s technical staff for their work and that he respects each and every individual of Hector Cuper’s men even after leaving him out of the squad heading to the World Cup next month.
