Report: Abdel-Shafy set to extend his Al Ahli contract
Egypt international Mohamed Abdel-Shafy is reportedly set to extend his stay at KSA giants Al Ahli after spending the final six months of last season at Al Fateh.
Abdel-Shafy went on a six-month loan spell at Al Fateh after he was deemed surplus for the needs of former Al Ahli coach Sergiy Rebrov. The left back struggled to get playing time in the first half of the season due to a knee injury he sustained at the beginning of the season.
According to Saudi Arabian outlet Arriyadiyah, Al Ahli board, headed by president Majed Al Nefa’ie, have finalised the agreement related to the former Zamalek left back contract renewal for one extra season. His current deal was bound to expire in summer 2018.
The Royal is expected to officially announce the agreement with Abdel-Shafy in the coming hours.
The 32-year-old defender joined Al Ahli in summer 2015. Since arriving at Al Raqi, Abdel-Shafy has collected 88 games in all competitions and registered nine assists.
Sheefo will be accompanied by fellow Egypt international Abdallah El-Said who completed his transfer to Al Ahli on permanent basis.
