Liverpool legend and all-time leading goalscorer said he will bow down to Mohamed Salah if he manages to break his record for goals scored in a single season.

has scored 44 goals so far this season, he is four away from breaking Rush’s record from the 1983-84 campaign. Salah’s last chance to break this record is if he manages to score four goals in Saturday’s Champions League Final  against Real Madrid.

Rush, the Reds ambassador has promised the Egyptian that he would bow down to him if he managed to set a new record in Kiev.

In an interview with Press Association Sport, Rush commented on Salah’s performance saying, “To score four goals in a final would be an incredible achievement.

“Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez were amazing in their first seasons at Liverpool. But I have to say Salah’s been even better than them, not only his goals and assists but his all-round game. ”

“What I like about him is that he’s such a humble guy, if someone’s in a better position he passes the ball.”

After Salah’s performance this season, many believe that he would be a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or if Liverpool win the , and it seems like Rush is in agreement.

“The two best players in the world over a long time, without doubt, are Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi,” Rush said.

“But over the last season Salah has been the best player. He played a huge role in helping Egypt qualify to the World Cup and what he’s achieved at Liverpool has been amazing.

“I don’t want to take anything away from Ronaldo or Messi, but he’s done it in the hardest league in the world.

“If Liverpool win the Champions League he deserves the best player award, 100 per cent.”

The 56-year-old legend believes that Liverpool have a shot at winning and that the final would be a high scoring event since both clubs are attacking teams.
