OFFICIAL: Ismaily forward Diego Calderón joins Al Faisaly
Diego Calderón has joined Saudi Pro League outfit Al Faisaly from Ismaily for an undisclosed fee, the Saudi side have announced on Saturday.
The 28-year-old only joined Ismaily in the winter of 2017, but his fine performances in the Egyptian Premier League prompted Al Faisaly to make a move for him.
During his 18 months with the Yellow Dragons, the Colombian managed to score 22 goals and provide nine assists in 44 games across all competitions.
He helped them finish second in the Premier League and qualify for the CAF Champions League for the first time in nine years as well as guiding them to the Egypt Cup semi-finals.
Calderón started his career at Colombian side Envigado FC, before joining Mexico’s UNACH in 2011, spending two seasons with them.
He then had spells at Mexican outfits Oaxaca and Zacatepec, before he moved to Ismaily in January 2017 on a free transfer.
Ismaily will surely look to strengthen their squad after Calderón’s move as they will hope to compete for the CAF Champions League title, which they lift only once in 1969.
