The pair of England legends were on BT Sport as pundits, and gave their opinion regarding the incident between Ramos and Salah that ruled the Egyptian out.

Former Manchester United man Rio Ferdinand began, “I would say I thought it was very good defending from Ramos and I don’t really think he meant to do that”.

He added, “It’s so unfortunate to see something like that a game of this magnitude. At the end of the day it has changed the momentum of this game”.

Ex-Chelsea man Frank Lampard agreed with his former England teammate, saying, “No, I don’t think there is any blame”. He continued, “Listen, he’s got close, which any defender should do. Sometimes when you do make contact you do interlink arms. I think it was more unfortunate in the end in the way he fell”.

The Egyptian Football Association released a statement regarding Salah’s injury.

I think Ramos insisted to Salah by anyway legal or illegal, he took his left hand and grabbed him down to the earth so he should be kicked out of the match.
