Aly Ghazal scores own goal as Vancouver Whitecaps draw with New England
Aly Ghazal scored an own goal as Vancouver Whitecaps and New England played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in Major League Soccer.
Whitecaps were the first to cause threat in the game when Kei Kamara missed a sitter in New England’s box, right before Ghazal bagged a goal in his own net to give the visitors the lead.
Cristian Techera tried to level the game but his efforts hit the bar, right before the second half where he gave the fans an unforgettable performance.
Cristian Penilla doubled the lead of New England on the 48th minute, setting Techera on fire as the Uruguayan brought the game level firing two goals in two minutes for the Canadian team.
Teal Bunbury brought New England up again after a very poor display on the ball from Ghazal once again, yet Techera was there to save the day for one more time, to end the game in a draw by completing his hat-trick.
Brazilian midfielder Felipe had the chance to win the game for Whitecaps, but his header also hit the bar for the second time for the home side.
Vancouver Whitecaps have failed to win their last five games in MLS and have dropped to sixth position in the Western Conference table.
