Ahmed Elmohamady thanked the fans for all their support throughout the season, and promised them Aston Villa will do everything they can to get back to the Premier League next season.

Following their disappointing 1-0 defeat in play-offs final against Fulham, Elmohamady expressed his frustration from the result as he believes his experienced side gave it their all especially in the second half at Wembley Stadium.

The defender had a special message for the fans that stood by the club all season long. “When you get in the play-offs, you are one step away from the Premier League,” he said, according to Express and Star website. “Of course you have to get together again and go again next season. Hopefully we will be back next season.

“We have great supporters, behind us all the way. We will make sure next season we will do it for them.”

“I thought we played really well in the second half and deserved at least a goal,” said Elmohamady. “We were unlucky and needed too many chances. They took their chance in the first half. They kept the ball well and made it difficult for us.

“We created four or five really good chances in the second half, really, really good chances to score.

“We have to take it on the chin, it is very disappointing.”

Elmohamady provided five assists for the Villains this season, as they finished fourth in the standing and won their first play-off game against Middlesbrough and lost in the final game against a youthful Fulham side led by wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon.
