Mamdouh wins EHF Champions League title with Montpellier

Egypt international and Montpellier’s forward, Mohamed Mamdouh, was crowned champion of the European Champions League with French side, Montpellier.

Montpellier were crowned champions for the second time in their history after defeating Nantes 32-26 in the final, which took place in Cologne this Sunday.

Mamdouh, who currently plays as a ring pivot, produced a fine display as he played the whole game led his team to the title after scoring six goals.

The former Zamalek player was loaned to Pays d’Aix for one year, before joining Montpellier last December to replace Ludovic Fabregas.

The 29-year-old becomes the first ever Egyptian to win the prestigious title as iconic player Hussein Zaki reached the final back in 2005 with Spanish giants Ciudad Real before losing the title to Barcelona.
