Amr Gamal named Telkom Knockout Player of the Tournament
Gamal joined Bidvest Wits in August 2017 on a season-long loan from Al Ahly, however, it didn’t quite work out for the Egyptian in South Africa, as he was forced to cut his loan short, six months in advance.
During his time in South Africa, the 26-year-old made 19 appearances and scored five goals, including three in four games in the Telkom Knockout.
He also assisted the winning goal against Bloemfontein Celtic in the final game, which declared Bidvest Wits the champions.

His performances in the competition were rewarded with Player of the Tournament award nomination, and on Tuesday, he was announced as the winner of the award ahead of former teammate Darren Keet and Lantshene Phalane of Bloemfontein Celtic.
Amr Gamal is currently on loan at Finland’s HJK Helsinki from Al Ahly, making 13 appearances for the Finnish giants, but is yet to score for them.
He was not named in Egypt’s 29-man preliminary squad for the World Cup, but was included in the reserve list alongside five other names.
