El Gouna sign Ahmed Eid and Gedo
Red Sea based club El Gouna have signed former Egypt international and Zamalek midfielder Ahmed Eid as well as 2010 AFCON goal hero Gedo.
Following their promotion from the Egyptian Second Division last season, El Gouna have started their summer transfer activity in style with two big name signings in Ahmed Eid and Gedo, from Wadi Degla and El Mokawloon respectively.
Eid spent the bulk of his career at Haras El Hodood, during which time he broke into the Egypt national team where he was on the winning team in both the 2006 and 2010 AFCONs. Eventually, he earnt a move back to his first club Zamalek before several moves culminating in a spell at Wadi Degla where he played until this move.
On the other hand, Gedo made his name at Ittihad of Alexandria where he also went on to participate at the 2010 AFCON, playing a crucial role in Egypt’s success as he won the golden boot scoring five goals including the winning goal in the final against Ghana. A move to Al Ahly followed, where he had a good record as well as a successful spell at Hull City in the Championship.
El Gouna will hope that the pair’s experience will see them survive in the top flight next season, a feat they have not achieved since 2013-14.
