Former Zamalek forward Ahmed Gaafar joins El-Gaish on free transfer
Tala’a El-Gaish have announced the signing of former Zamalek and Egypt forward Ahmed Gaafar on a free transfer following his recent release by Petrojet.
Despite only joining Petrojet last summer from Zamalek, the 32-year-old was released following a disappointing campaign, which saw him score only once in 15 games.
He agreed to join El-Gaish on a free transfer and has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the military club, becoming their second major signing after Ahmed Samy’s arrival from Misr El-Makkasa.
Gaafar, who exploded onto the scene with Etisalat in 2008, spent five years at Zamalek, before joining ENPPI in 2014 and then Petrojet a year later.
His exceptional performances with Petrojet earned him a move back to Zamalek, but the forward couldn’t replicate his fine performances and returned back to Petrojet after one year only.
And he has now found his fifth Egyptian Premier League club in his career after El-Gaish announced that they had signed him on a free transfer.
Ahmed Gaafar has scored 57 goals in the Egyptian Premier League and has won four caps for Egypt, scoring twice against Swaziland in a friendly.
