Egypt’s Abdallah El-Said doubtful for Belgium friendly
Egyptian playmaker Abdallah El-Said may not feature against Belgium as a precaution after he experienced hamstring fatigue.
The 32-year-old did not take part in the Pharaohs’ group training in Italy, and spent the session working alone on Monday.
The injury does not seem serious but the player may not participate in the upcoming friendly in order to be fully fit for the Pharaohs’ World Cup opener against Uruguay.
El-Said scored two crucial goals in the qualifiers for Egypt against Congo and Ghana, and bagged a late winner against Uganda in the group stage of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Egypt, who drew with Kuwait and Colombia in the build up to the World Cup, are scheduled to face Belgium on Wednesday in their last friendly ahead of the showpiece event. They will kick off their group stage games against Uruguay on June 15 before playing against Russia and Saudi Arabia on June 19 and June 25.
