Ruud Gullit: I still remember Hany Ramzy and Rabie Yassin
Euro champions Netherlands with their deadly trio of Gullit, Marco Van Vasten and Frank Rijkaard upfront were facing Egypt in their first World Cup fixture 28 years ago.
The Pharaohs were able to pull a shocker that day as they held the Flying Dutchmen to a 1-1 draw in a game Gullit remembers very well.
“It was a tough game. We did not play well,” Gullit told beIN Sport satellite channel.
“We were the champions of Europe and we did not watch games for the Egyptian national team.
“I remember Hany Ramzy and Rabie Yassin. They showed great quality in that game,” he added.
Egypt were eliminated at the group stage after drawing with Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland and losing to England.
They will be making their first World Cup appearance since 1990 as they play their first game of the 2018 World Cup against Uruguay on June 15 and their second game will be against hosts Russia four days later before playing their final fixture against Saudi Arabia on June 25.
