Óscar Tabárez: Uruguay will take precautions if Mohamed Salah plays
Uruguayan head coach Óscar Tabárez and captain Diego Godín spoke after the team’s training on Monday about their match against Egypt and Mohamed Salah.
Uruguay will open their road in the World Cup against Egypt on June 15, yet Mohamed Salah is still a doubt for making the match after suffering a shoulder injury in the Champions League Final. However, he has already begun rehab in Spain in hopes of making all three group stage matches.
“If [Salah] plays [against Uruguay], we will have to take precautions, because he is a player of the highest level. Either way, we will not change all our plans for that reason,” Tabárez mentioned after the morning training.
The training comes as Uruguay prepare for their only friendly before the World Cup against Uzbekistan on June 7.
“[Egypt] are a National Team that competes well, they are organized, with a great manager [the Argentinean Héctor Cúper] that has clear ideas,” captain Godín added.
“Salah is a decisive player. We will prepare in the same way either way. However for Egypt, it changes if you have Salah or not,” the Atlético Madrid defender revealed.
