Russia draw with Turkey in final game ahead of World Cup
Russia were held to a 1-1 draw against Turkey in their final warm-up game ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
Russia have had a disappointing start to the game with Turkey clearly dominating and in the eighth minute got an opportunity to open the scoring but Cglar Soyuncu’s header went wide.
Against the course of the game, Sameldov scored Russia’s only goal in the 34th minute after Siyuncu miss-passed the ball inside the penalty box.
Just two minutes before the end of the second-half Irfan Kahveci nearly put the scores back level but his header was saved by Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.
The second-half was very balanced with Russia having a bit more possession but neither side was able to have a clear-cut chance on goal.
In the 60th minute Yunus Malli scored the equalizer for Turkey after a great shot from outside the penalty area.
Russia failed to win any of their warm-up games, losing to Brazil and France during their March training camp and most recently they lost against Austria 1-0.
They next game will be against Saudi Arabia on June 14 in the World Cup opening game, they will then face Egypt on June 19 before playing their final game in the group stage against Uruguay on June 25.
