Egypt national team coach Hector Cuper admitted the Pharaohs’ defense wasn’t on form against , but expressed his satisfaction with the strikers’ performances.

The Pharaohs lost 3-0 to Belgium in Brussels on Wednesday in their final friendly ahead of the . They failed to collect a win in their pre-World Cup friendlies as they also settled for draws against Kuwait and Colombia in their final preparation camp.

Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring for the hosts after 27 minutes and Eden Hazard doubled their lead seven minutes before the break. In the stoppage time, Marouane Fellaini scored to make it 3-0.

“In a comparison with our game against Colombia, our defence was not on form today,” Cuper said after the Pharaohs’ defeat to Belgium as he made comparisons with their goalless draw with Colombia less than a week earlier.

Despite failing to score against Belgium, Cuper was satisfied with the performance of the Pharaohs’ strikers. “I am satisfied with the strikers performances. Marwan Mohsen, Amr Warda and Kahraba were promising today,” he added.

Mohsen and Warda were included in the starting line up and made way for Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet and Omar Gaber in the second half, while Mahmoud Kahraba came on to replace Ramadan Sobhi in the 67th minute.

Egypt will be making their first World Cup appearance in 28 years when they face Uruguay in their group stage opener on June 15. They will then play against hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia on June 19 and June 25.

Terrible game by Egypt. They don’t seem to be able to build up an attack from the back and up front Sobhi’s capabilities are mediocre. Stoke fans are delighted he left to Huddersfield and I don’t blame them. I fear the worst for the game vs. Uruguay, even when Salah makes it.

They are to worried, they should play with more joy and look forward to show of on a world stage.
Egypt can only make a great result if they approach the games hungry for glory instead of worried little tourist..

With Salah even if he will not play, Egypt will play better.

Our defense has never been good. It’s an absurd myth. We have exactly ONE good defender. As to his satisfaction with the strikers. Yes, mesmerizing performance! Ya’ll see ìt on the scoreboard. If not there, than look at the statistics. All those shots on goal. Against Belgium! Wow…

Mr. Cuper is looking for the silver lining in a 0-3 defeat against the Belgians. Strikers look promising, may be they will deliver on that promise during world cup.
