Hazard comments on defeating Egypt, cheering for them for Salah
Belgium star Eden Hazard has expressed his satisfaction over his side’s victory over Egypt at King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, revealing that he will be backing the Pharaohs in the World Cup for his friend Mohamed Salah.
Egypt came off to a 3-0 defeat against Belgium in their final preparatory friendly game ahead of the world’s most prestigious tournament, with goals from Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Marouane Fellaini. In spite of the defeat, the Pharaohs have shown a much better offensive side of their game before failing to create threat in the second half.
Hazard praised the Egyptian national team, saying that they possess good players despite the absence of their star man Salah.
“Egypt have good players. We managed to take control of the match and scored an early goal which made things easier for ourselves,” Hazard told ON Sport channel.
“We are glad about defeating Egypt 3-0. I wish Salah the best and hope he returns. I will support Egypt in the World Cup for him. Egypt are so different without Salah but they still performed well with compact lines. Their playing style is close to that of Tunisia.”
“I spoke with Salah after the Champions League final and sent him a message, as I said he is my friend and I want to see him in the World Cup.”
