Liverpool star Mohamed Salah visited his former club Arab Contractors following his arrival in Egypt on Wednesday night.
The 25-year-old arrived in Egypt from Spain on Wednesday to join the national team training camp ahead of the 2018 World Cup. The Liverpool striker had travelled to Valencia for treatment after picking up a shoulder injury in the Reds’ 3-1 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid after a clash with Sergio Ramos.
According to a statement by the company’s official Facebook page, Salah visited the club’s headquarters at midnight, hours after his arrival in Cairo. During his visit, the Egypt international met with some staff members as well as players from the youth team.
Chairman of the Arab Contractors Mohsen Salah praised the Liverpool star, saying that Arab Contractors’ is Salah’s home. He added that the former Basel winger visits the Egyptian Premier League side and meets with the young players every time he comes back to Egypt.
Salah is expected to join Egypt’s training camp ahead of their trip to Russia on Sunday morning. The Pharaohs, who played their last friendly before the World Cup against Belgium on Wednesday, are scheduled to arrive in Egypt on Thursday afternoon.
It remains unclear whether Salah will be ready for Egypt’s opener against Uruguay on June 15, however, the Pharaohs’ manager Hector Cuper said on Tuesday he’s optimistic the Liverpool star will catch Egypt’s first World Cup game in 28 years.
