Ittihad Jeddah no longer interested in Al Ahly defender Ali Maaloul
The former CS Sfaxien defender has been at the Red Devils since July 2016, helping them achieve two Premier League titles, one Egypt Cup, and the Egyptian Super Cup once.
He has been linked with a move to a number of clubs, most recently Ittihad Jeddah, who submitted a $2 million offer to sign the Tunisian, according to reports.
The Saudi club confirmed that Maaloul’s agent contacted them and expressed the player’s desire to join their ranks. After receiving this offer, the club’s management contacted Al Ahly to discuss the move.
However, they have decided to dismiss signing with the Maaloul, without revealing any further reasons.
Al Ahly’s newly appointed director of football Mohamed Youssef has stressed earlier that the foreign trio Walid Azaro, Ali Maaloul and Junior Ajayi are unsellable.
The 28-year-old is a member of the Tunisia squad that will take on England, Belgium and Panama in Group G in the 2018 World Cup.
