Uruguay manager Oscar Tabarez: Hector Cuper is a very good coach
Uruguay have completed their friendly matches ahead of the 2018 World Cup with a recent 3-0 thrashing of Uzbekistan meaning that La Celeste haven’t lost any of their friendlies ahead of the tournament.
Speaking in a press conference after the game, Tabarez spoke highly of Héctor Cúper, saying: “Cuper is a very good coach, who has a lot of prestige.
“He was elected by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) as the best coach of the year in 2000.
“We have a lot of information about Egypt as we have been following them for a long time,” he added.
Tabarez also hailed Egypt’s Mohamed Salah saying he’s a “star player” while also saying that La Celeste will be under some pressure against the Pharaohs and such games require a “minimum margin of error”.
The 71-year-old has also commented on their 3-0 win against Uzbekistan, saying: “The result of a friendly has a relative importance.
“The big conclusion of the game is that all the players were in good condition. The fact that it is important to end the friendlies with all players healthy is a circumstance, some of the rival teams didn’t have that,” he concluded.
