Senegal lose to Croatia in World Cup warm-up
The African side played an epic first half at the Gradski vrt, with stiff defending at the back, denying Mario Mandzukic and Perisic any chances.
Diafra Sakho had the first crucial chance of the game, as he unleashed a shot to the bottom right corner, yet it was saved by the fingertips of Danijel Subasic.
The Lions of Teranga had a second vital chance before the second half, when youngster Sarr took the ball from the defense and had a shot from outside of the box that went a little wide.
After the break, Sarr had another moment of brilliance when he ran behind the Croatian back-line to receive a long ball in the box with his right foot and smash it into the net with his left, marking the first goal of the game.
Croatia were later awarded by a free-kick that was bent by Perisic and found its way to the net, following a deflection from the Senegalese wall.
Kramarić reached the opposition’s box after a solo run, his first shot was denied by the defense, but his second found the winner for Croatia.
Before the end of the game, Sadio Mane was close from scoring an equaliser but his free-kick hit the bar to end the game 2-1 for Croatia.
Senegal will play another friendly against South Korea on June 11 before kicking off their World Cup group stage campaign against Poland on June 19. They will then play against Japan and Colombia on June 24 and June 28.
